BEHIND AND BESIDE EVERY GREAT MAN : CUSHING'S KIND MESSAGE TO A NEW BARON

AS PROMISED, here connected to yesterday's post : Back in the 70's, anything to sell tabloid 'newspapers'... Ralph Bates playing Baron Frankenstein, 'taking the role' from Hammer films usual 'Baron of choice' was Peter Cushing and had been since the first Hammer Frankenstein film in 1957 with 'The Curse of Frankenstein' ... HERE is how Peter Cushing took the news... Many thanks again to, Mr G 😊😊

HELEN AND PETER CUSHING... Birgit and Christopher Lee and Coral Browne and Vincent Price 😊All interesting characters, wives and husbands . . despite rumours before and after their passing. If you think or gossip otherwise.. what you didn't see with YOUR eyes, don't witness with your mouth....

AND FOR THOSE, who would think anyone would compromise the message of  the 'couples banner' here is Christopher Lee. ' Yup, HE told me that! Christopher Lee is a gossip and compromiser of confidences. . . said NO ONE... ever!'

 Man... some people . .

HAIR RAISING ISSUES WITH DRACULA : VINCENT PRICE INTERVIEW 1986 : A THROWBACK-THROWING BACK?

#CHRISTOPHERLEE We HAM and EGGED it!' Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee in TWO rare photographs . .Lee here sharing thoughts on his work and long friendship with Peter Cushing . . .

#VincentPrice YESTERDAY, over at the FACEBOOK PCASUK FAN PAGE I shared  a lovely interview with Vincent Price in 1986, rebroadcast in 1993. ..as ever, charming, entertaining and funny 😊 'Madhouse' and 'House of the Long Shadows' were Peter Cushing appeared with Vincent Price, I think are a joy to watch them together! I hope you enjoy THIS INTERVIEW too 😉

#THROWBACKTHURSDAY: THROW YOUR MIND BACK about three years ago..... and the rare photograph I posted you can see on the RIGHT. It's an image of writer Chris Knight from Cinefantastque 'behind the scenes' at Elstree Studios, during the making of 'Dracula AD 1972', with Christopher Lee. The photograph, an exposure on a contact sheet from photographer and good friend of Christopher Lee's, Peter Nicolson, wasn't actually titled or labelled. But it looked pretty obvious to me and several others, that this was taken, during the shooting of AD. Nicolson took several amazing behind the scenes shots during filming, some were used in a feature on AD in volume 2 number 2, of Cinefantastique . . an issue until recently, I have never seen before until just a few days ago. Some thought on the Facebook PCASUK Fan Page it was taken during the making of 'Taste the Blood of Dracula'... why not slip along to the page and tell us, what you think? - Marcus

... DURING OUR #ThrowBackThursday this week, at the FACEBOOK PCASUK FAN PAGE I posted a rare and wonderful photograph of Peter Cushing back stage, making up and prepping for a theatre production probably around late 1940's early 50's. The title, I am STILL not sure about . . The Silver Whistle (??) but I am sure there are many out there that know much more about Peter's stage and theatre work than I profess to... who may identify the show he is appearing in! 😕 Any ideas?

AND FINALLY, at the Facebook PCASUK FAN PAGE this week, I posted this cute photograph of #VINCENTPRICE ... I loved the films which cast both Peter Cushing and Vincent together. I wish there were more...But, here's one of my fav Vincent Price pics... and as a quick puzzler I am asking, YOU which film does this come from AND who is the actress on the left? Many people did recognise it. Can YOU?

CHRISTOPHER LEE AND VINCENT PRICE BIRTHDAYS CELEBRATED TODAY MAY 27TH 2020!

CELEBRATING TWO VERY SPECIAL BIRTHDAY'S TODAY! It was a fact the never seemed to not amuse all three of them, that Peter Cushing's birthday was May 26th, and BOTH #ChristopherLee AND #VincentPrice celebrated their birthdays on the following day, May 27th! How weird is it also that #BramStoker's novel '#Dracula' was published in 1897 on ... May 26th?!! A book that was more than an influence in one way or another, on all three of their careers??

ALL THREE WE KNOW are still very much missed and celebrated, we have many times asked this question of Peter's work, but can you remember the first film you ever saw which starred Christopher Lee ... and the first that starred Vincent Price..and are there any of their films you have still yet to see?? If you are planning a Christopher Lee or Vincent Price FILM BINGE today or on the weekend please share your idea of the #PERFECT #playlist, at the Facebook PCASUK Fan Page! I am sure many here would appreciate the suggestions, to make their #BINGE go with a #BANG!

MEANWHILE... please join us here and at THE FACEBOOK PCASUK FAN PAGE in remembering and celebrating BOTH Christopher and Vincent TODAY...Happy Birthday Gentlemen and Thank You! - Take Care everyone and stay well😉- Marcus

This interview was broadcast in 1986 by the UK ITV children's programme 'Splash'. You can see it . .

STRIPPING, POETRY AND POE : WITCHFINDER VINCENT PRICE ENTERTAINS!

#WATCHWITHCUSHING! FOLLOWING SOME REQUESTS I have received for suggestions of posts that you would like to see shared here.. This one is for Shelia P, Dale J, Michelle J and Matt K 😃They have requested this interview with Peter Cushing's good friend and twice screen buddy, #VincentPrice, having seen it on the PCASUK YouTube Channel 😉My pleasure. It's a fine and VERY amusing interview, where Vincent certainly entertains 😄

#WATCHWITHCUSHING! AND SO... our last clip of the day at the Facebook PCASUK Fan Page and a suggestion from Stuart H, Audrey K, Rob Sadler, Barbara C, Emma Teile, M Aldrich and Tori F . . if you are ready to sleep, what better way than a sweet lullaby from Vincent Price from the end credit sequence of the 1974 'Madhouse' starring Vincent, Peter Cushing, Robert Quarry, Adrienne Corri and Linda Hayden. Despite the gnashing of teeth it got from the critics and even some fans who today, see it as a waste of the talents of Price and Cushing,  it still stands as one of my personal favs. YOU can hear this clip at the FACEBOOK PCASUK FAN PAGE! HERE! This one is for you too, #JimMorrow 😉 Sweet dreams, sleep tight, sleep well, stay safe 😉 - Marcus 😴😴 💤💤

'THE MAN WHO HATED SCENES' FROM 1973

HI EVERYONE! 😃 Here and at the FACEBOOK PCASUK FAN PAGE I am going to be changing the style a little of our post this week. Many of you have messaged and asked if we have recordings of Peter reading or radio plays.. anything you can peacefully listen to of an evening of an hour or two, as a break. So, I've been digging to find some of the best in the way of dramas, interviews, documentaries etc, that you might find entertaining. All fun, appropriate and a little distraction from the day😉 Some you may have heard before, but hey, these are so good, they are worth a second or third dip! So here is our first today, it's from BBC radio's 'The Price of Fear' which was a creepy come mystery radio serial, that was produced by BBC during the 1970s. The host and star of the show is the wonderful Vincent Price. This episode also stars #petercushing.

ABOVE: VINCENT PRICE AND PETER CUSHING recording the radio series, 'ALIENS IN THE MIND' broadcast by the BBC back in 1977. I hope to be bringing you episodes of this over the coming few days!

FLASHBAK SADDEST FEATURE : STUNTMAN SUPREME EDDIE POWELL AND OSCAR QUITAK BIRTHDAYS!

A HEADS UP! Thank you to the several friends out there who sent me a link to a feature that has turned up on the nostalgia site FlashBak . . on Peter Cushing 😉 Here is a link to the feature HERE!

IT'S LOVELY HERE to see all the past clubs mentioned and a hand written letter from our founder and friend, the amazing Gladys Fletcher 😊 Also I've had a quite a few messages asking how to become a 'member' of PCASUK? Gosh, 'members' . . those were the days🌝 Sadly those days have also long gone, we do though have a this fab Facebook Fan Page fan page and super website 😉 ... and very lucky to have the support and interest of over 30K very friendly followers 😃😉Here below in the comments thread, for those of you who asked for info is the PCASUK promo trailer  HERE!... four years old now! Time for a new one? - Marcus

REMEMBERING EDDIE POWELL TODAY 😃 Here is a guy who who appeared in many many Hammer films...was Christopher Lee's favorite stuntman and stand in for the majority of his horror films. Dracula Prince of Darkness, The Mummy's Shroud, he appeared in several BOND films, Cushing's Dr Who, Daleks Invasion Earth. Later, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Batman in 1989... and not many of the fans of Ridley Scott's ALIEN, realise it was Eddie in the costume during many of the scenes and stunts!

BLESS YOU EDDIE, you were a master and genius! PLEASE help us celebrate his birthday today, he sadly left us in August 11th in 2000. He has left behind a real archive of work and many friends and people who still miss him 😊 HAPPY BIRTHDAY EDDIE!

PLEASE JOIN US in wishing actor, 94 years young Oscar Quitak today! Quitak has a huge CV of performances and work which started in 1946, in As You Like It, to 1993 in the BBC TV series 'Every Silver Lining'! His Cushing connection was playing Karl in Hammer's sequel to 'The Curse of Frankenstein', The REVENGE of Frankenstein in 1958. In quite limited screen time, he successfully squeezed every last drop of pathos for a man who wanted to be cured. Thereafter follows a carrer that saw him appear in some classic television dramas and british movies. From the BBC Colditz serial, ITC's Man In Suitcase, Doomwatch, Ace of Wands in the 1970's, BBC's Z Cars series, and in 1976, 'The Last of The Cybernauts' New Avengers episode, picking up where Peter Cushing's Paul Beresford left off in 1967 with 'Return of the Cybernauts'.

QUITAK also appeared in Terry Gilliam's 'Brazil', the Hammer return TV series, Hammer House of Mystery and Suspense episode, 'Black Carion' in 1984. The same year, he appeared as 'a doctor' in Kenny Everett's 'Bloodbath In The House of Death' black comedy, which also starred Vincent Price! Over four years, he turned up in various roles in Everett's BBC TV series and a total of eight shows!

OSCAR was married to actress Andree Melly (who is probably most famous for her role as Gina in Cushing's 'The Brides of Dracula' (1960) she sadly passed away on 31st January 2020.

FROM US ALL, a VERY Happy Birthday Oscar Quitak . . and many more to come😊

THROWBACK: SHE'S HAPPY AS A TRIBBLE : 1975 NEW YORK AND LONDON : WHAT DO YOU HANG IN YOUR SHOWER?

#THROWBACKTHURSDAY! Remember THIS? Cushing's Tarkin and others SING. Kinda. 'It's Not A Moon'... was released and posted here back in March 2018. Written, sung and created by the super talented Bad Lip Reading. I found it again this morning and made FATAL mistake of pressing play. It's been on repeat ever since! Clever, catchy and outrageously funny, me thinks. Has an excellent video edit to boot. Still makes me howl...and sing along too 😉 What do you think?

#THROWBACKTHURSDAY! 1975 . . that year, Cushing was in New York for the Famous Monsters Convention, his debut at a convention in the Big Apple . . while Vincent Price flew in and met wife, Coral at Heathrow Airport, London . . all ready to start rehearsals for his role in 'ÒArdeleÓ' in which he would make his West End debut...with Coral co-starring! So anyone out there, who maybe attended either or both???? 😉 - Marcus
