#ROGUEONE TRENDS ON TWITTER!

#VERYHAPPY to see 'Rogue One : A Star Wars Story' trending on Twitter today 😲I can't help thinking that Peter Cushing would have very much loved the film too. Personally, I think #ROGUEONE  is THE most beautiful cinematic #StarWars film of the whole series!

The #Sideshowtoys figure of #PeterCushing as Grand Moff Tarkin 'Star Wars' (1977) Quite an impressive figure. Apparently, #ForbiddenPlanet in Shaftesbury Avenue, #London has one in their figure display cabinet opposite the checkouts!

TALKING TARKIN : WHEN FAN ASKS MARK HAMILL THE BURNING QUESTION!

WHEN A FAN RECENTLY asked Mark Hamill on Twitter which actor from Star Wars he wished Luke could've shared a scene with if there was a chance, Hamill posted a touching reply. Not only did Hamill start with the late and great Peter Cushing, who played Grand Moff Tarkin, but he said basically everyone else from the films, calling out the sequel trilogy actors in particular. In a funny way it's a quintessential Luke Skywalker response 😊

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARK HAMILL : VIDEO 'WHEN SKYWALKER MET TARKIN!'

IT'S A VERY Happy Birthday to actor Mark Hamill we post today 😃 Hamill who is probably best known for his role as Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars Films and the role of providing the voice behind the animated BATMAN series of The Joker .

HAMILL co-starred with Peter Cushing in the first Star Wars film 'A New Hope' (1977) However, Hamill was disappointed to learn that he had no scenes with Peter's character Grand Moff Tarkin, so he took the time to visit the set on the days Peter was working, to meet with him.

#THROWBACKTHURSDAY! TARKIN TIME!

OPINIONS ON THE CGI TARKIN that appeared in the 2016 film 'ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY' will probably be forever divided. Some say, it ALMOST works. Others, that it's just not LIFE LIKE, let alone CUSHING as TARKIN. While some like myself believe, it DOES . ..  98% of the time. I have always seen each STAR WARS movie, as a separate movie...despite the continuity thread of the stories.

EACH FILM IS NEW. Each film has it's own time to entertain and work. Despite whatever the prequel or any other releases signal or flag up, the job is to work. Many audiences today, judge the success and entertainment value, on what has happened before. If it is a remake, a sequel of prequel, it takes that test. It applies for completely NEW films too, with NO association to a series or similar theme.

WE SUSPECTED here at PCAS, like many others, that the CGI was coming. Just for a short time, CUSHING was BUZZING! When the release of the film arrived, newspapers, tv news, magazines and the net, carried opinions and images. For five months, CGI brought Peter Cushing BACK to world. I think ROGUE ONE is an amazing film and the appearance of a CGI Peter Cushing as Tarkin, is magic. For me, it always will be . .

LITTLE DID PETER CUSHING  know back in 1976, when he was shooting STAR WARS, that one little decision he made, after feeling the PINCH of his leather TARKIN boots, talk about his performance would not only be about how he played such a tyrant . .  but the word SLIPPERS, would also be forever associated too.

MARK HAMILL ON THE CUSHING CGI AND NO TO ITS USE FOR LATE CARRIE FISHER AND LEIA

MARK HAMILL doesn’t think re-casting late Carrie Fisher in Star Wars: Episode IX is a good idea. The actress who passed away on December 27, 2016, after going into cardiac arrest at the age of 60 has left a prominent role in question for both fans and the makers. In an interview with Collider, Hamill, who portrays Carrie Fisher’s on-screen sibling Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise, said that Fisher as Princess Leia is irreplaceable.

”First of all, I don’t know what the specific plans were for that character but just the way Han Solo was more prominent in [Episode] VII, Luke more prominent in VIII, we assumed Leia would be more prominent in IX, especially since the dynamic of having Kylo Ren as her son,” Hamill said. “I think it would be tough recasting Carrie because she is so indelibly linked to that character.” SAYS MARK HAMILL

NOTABLY, the Last Jedi writer/director Rian Johnson has already confirmed that the makers don’t want to alter Fisher’s final performance, ultimately positioning her for a return in Episode IX. But the fact that Lucasfilm won’t attempt to digitally recreate the actress in any way, has left fans questioning about the character’s future.

“They’ve already ruled out of a computer-generated performance like they did with Peter Cushing [in Rogue One] so, gee, that’s gotta be a real, not insurmountable problem, but I know that the script had been in development so that when we lost her they had to go back to square one,” Hamill added. “But she is irreplaceable, you know, as far as I’m concerned.”

RECENTLY, some Star Wars fans came up with an online petition pleading the filmmakers to cast Meryl Streep to play the role of Leia in Star Wars: Episode IX But there is one person in particular who is not for the change: Mark Hamill.

HAMILL has posted about his devastation over losing his space sister on countless occasions. He also said in a previous interview he is not able to watch Luke and Leia's scene in Last JediKathleen Kennedy of Lucasfilm has gone on record saying Last Jedi would be Fisher's Star Wars film, meaning no CGI or repurposed material in following installments.

NOW, everything stands in the hands of co-writers J.J. Abrams and Chris Terrio. It will be interesting to find out how they handle Leia’s character in Episode IX when the film lands in theaters on December 20, 2019

NEW MARK HAMILL TALKS PETER CUSHING

MARK HAMILL SHARES the story of the day, he met Peter Cushing. Now, for some out there, you maybe asking yourself, why would actor MARK HAMILL want to meet actor Peter Cushing, even going into the studio on his day off? Hamill knew his chances of meeting Cushing were slim, as he didn't actually share any scenes with him in the film STAR WARS. The fact is, HAMILL was and still is a FAN. He LOVES Peter Cushing's work, grew up watching his Hammer films, and is very knowledgeable not only about Peter's work, but also about the man and his life too. SO, here was his golden opportunity. WATCH MARK HAMILL share his memories of the day, he met PETER CUSHING. . .

REMEMBERING CARRIE FISHER ONE YEAR ON . . .

IT STILL SEEMS quite surreal writing this, one year on. A year today we lost CARRIE FISHER. The shock rippled around the world, and I am sure today, many will again feel that disbelief. Many here of course will know her connection to Peter Cushing, through the movie, STAR WARS. As Tarkin, they together played a key scene, with Peter cranking up his performance, as the cruel and most Machiavellian of characters in the Star Wars universe. Carrie later shared how difficult it had been for her to find the motivation, to hate Peter's Tarkin. She too, like many before her, had been charmed and moved, by his kindness and manner on set, it was quite a task to actually say those lines.

WHILE CREATING the banner for today's post, I dug though many hundreds of images of Carrie in file. They were ALL magical. They ALL projected her sense of fun, wickedness and love of life. Many were taken long before she started that painful and disabling struggle, that tripped and distracted her later in life. There were so many photographs, picking one, was just too difficult, picking TWO, was really no easier. Just like the fact she is no longer here, it's just not good enough . . . She really stands as one of the brightest STARS, not just in that Star Wars Galaxy, but in the lives of so many that she continues to touch. And today, we remember CARRIE FISHER, as one very special star, who still shines . . . .

THE DRACULA SHOT THAT NEVER MADE IT : CUSHING THE MERCILESS AND GOOD SHOES, MAKETH THE MAN!

#CHRISTOPHERLEESATURDAY! My Granny always said, 'You can always judge man by the quality of his shoes..!' With Christopher Lee busily polishing his custom made Italian brogues here, Granny would have obviously rated him quite high on her crib sheet. That's a nice shine too. Lee obviously doesn't trust to leave his shoes outside his hotel room door...after that LAST episode, with one going missing.

The Prince of Darkness . . .. 'Dracula, Prince of Darkness'
 (Hammer films 1966)

ALL TOGETHER NOW: 'FLASH! AHH...AHHH!' What a song! What a movie! Think on this . . .what if GEORGE LUCAS has decided not to make #STARWARS back in 1977, but instead, waited until 1980...and made, FLASH GORDON instead???? . . .Cus-HING as MING would have been interest-ING though...maybe? No? Mark H and dear Carrie, would have been perfect, not sure about Karen Allen though . . 🙂 This stunn-ING mock up cinema poster is the work of El Ray Network, I believe.

#CHRISTOPHERLEESATURDAYS! Can YOU spot the shot, with Marsha Hunt, that never made it to the final UK edit of #DRACULA AD 1972...starring Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing, before the big bow out, in the Satanic Rites of Dracula (1973)
