NEWS : KINO RELEASES ARTWORK FOR BLU RAY CASE OF 1960 'FLESH AND THE FIENDS' AKA 'MANIAC' BLU RAY!

NEWS: KINO has released artwork design for their much awaited first time blu ray release of a great Peter Cushing1960 film, 'Flesh and the Fiends'! What do you think? This film comes with some extras, but for me, just the chance to see this often forgotten little gem, on blu ray is a plus enough! Produced in what promises to be quite an experience in black and white, it carries a fabulous cast of actors, Cushing, Donald Pleasence, Billy Whitelaw and George Rose all at the top of their game and all giving their best supported by brilliant John Gilling's screenplay and direction. It's OUT on July 7th 2020 and like most KINO CLASSICS releases will be a 'Region A' blu ray. Taking pre-orders now, this one will sell like hot-cakes!

THIS UNDER-VALUED corker, has been struggling around in a very depressing state of ratty, scratched and dusty prints for far too long, so the news of this well timed blu ray release is quite wonderful. . . and here gem of a clip to show you why! Cushing was a master at such scenes as this one. If you like his turn in the 'Tongue slapping of the crusty and opinionated aged residents' in Hammer films, 1969 'Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed'... you'll LIKE this clip which can be found at the =FACEBOOK PCASUK FAN PAGE TODAY! . . ! 😊Stay Well AND Dandy Everyone πŸ˜‰ - Marcus

FACE TO FACE WITH THE SNOWMAN : MONDAY MOMENT OF TERROR!

AT A REMOTE  lhamasery in the Himalayas, scientist John Rollason studies rare mountain herbs with the help of his wife Helen, and associate Peter, while awaiting the arrival of an American named Tom Friend. Over Helen's objections and warnings by the High Lhama, he sets out with Friend on an expedition to find the elusive Yeti, accompanied by another American named Shelley and a young Scotsman, McNee, who claims to have seen the thing.

FOOTPRINTS are found in the snows and McNee seems queerly affected the closer they get to their quarry's likely habitat but the biggest shock to Rollason is discovering Friend is a showman who only intends to exploit their find, with Shelley his game hunter-marksman. The conflict between science and commercialism only increases when an enormous anthropoid is shot, and the horror only increases as the party realizes the other Yeti intend to retrieve their fallen comrade and have powers to do so which seem extra-human...

REMEMBERING VALERIE GAUNT TODAY : CURSE OF FRANKENSTEIN

REMEMBERING Today we remember Valerie Gaunt. VALERIE'S short career on the big screen featured only in two films, and they were along side Peter Cushing. Just two roles, but they left a lasting impact, that would outlast many longer career! Her playing of Justine in 'The Curse of Frankenstein' (1957) and her performance in Hammer films,1958 'Dracula' hold a special place for lovers of fantasy cinema. Born Valerie Shelia Gaunt, on the 9th July 1932 in Stratford-on-Avon, Warwickshire, England, following an interest in amateur theater, after leaving school embarked on a career as a model, before auditioning for Hammer and landing her first professional role in 1957. Gaunt married her husband Gerald Alfred Reddington on May 17th, 1958.

PETER CUSHING'S role in the clip above is short, but matters!

VALERIE GAUNT passed away, aged 84 after a short illness in November 2016.

RADIO PROMO SPOTS AND EURO LOBBY CARDS

#FRANKENSTEINFRIDAY: I've had some requests for quite a few radio spots that were made for Peter Cushing's Hammer films...this is one of the effective ones! Used in the US to coax the paying punters through the door, radio spots for Hammer films were not usual, in this time before the net. We have added some great visuals to the audio, to enhance your enjoyment.

RARE HAMILL INTERVIEW ON CUSHING AND STAR WARS

#TOOCOOLTUESDAY: Here are some updates of POSTS from our FACEBOOK FAN PAGE, that got a lot of attention over the past few days!  The first clip features Mark Hamill talking about meeting Peter Cushing on the set of Star Wars! One from a 1970's appearance on children's television, the other a more recent Q and A session. He REALLY is a Peter Cushing fan and as you will see from the second clip, he is quite knowledgeable about Peter's life and career!

ABOVE IS probably the clip we get requested to repost, more than any other! Peter Cushing getting flustered and tripping over his dialogue in #STARWARS. Thank goodness he attempts at trying to say, 'You would prefer another target? A military target? Then name the system!!' Came alright in the end!

BELOW THE SLIPPERS that went on to cause so many problems many years later . . . in an interview with Peter Cushing from the mid eighties, he explains the story, we all now know so well...

#GIMMETHEGIFWEDNESDAY: TAP DANCING DECAPITATIONS AND ROAD RAGE!

IT IS WEDNESDAY, which means it's #GIMMETHEGIFWEDNESDAY, the impossibly long hashtag link to an invitation to you to request, Cushing clips, on a cycle without sound... presented as a clip of excellence, to be savored over and over. As usual here a just a sample of requests we have received today. If during the following seven days a  clip comes to you in a flash of inspiration, you know what to do! send your request to either our PCAS FACEBOOK FAN PAGE or email to petercushingpcas@gmail.com. Mark it 'GIF REQUEST' and you 'll see it here or at the facebook page next week!

FIRST OF THE BLOCKS comes D. DARREN's request for a clip of Peter doing his soft-shoe shuffle from one of his #MORECAMBEANDWISE guest appearances. What a pity, PC never got more opportunities to show off his tapping size twelves! -Below.

NEXT NICHOLAS JACOB's requested 'the head in a bag' from Cushing's single step into the early slasher scene, 'CORRUPTION' ( 1968) 'head in a bag' makes sound like some 'easy to cook, boil in a bag weight-watcher option'! It's not it's the preamble into what later becomes, 'HEAD IN A FRIDGE'..also nothing remotely connected to culinary skills, other than, it DID involve a KNIFE! - Below

JOANNA PETERSON asked, "Can you guys do one of those wistful stares? I always loved those." Happy to, Joanna. Here is Peter Cushing, doing just that, in the closing moments from, a real downer of an ending, from #frankensteincreatedwoman. Terence Fisher's third installment of the Cushing / Hammer films cycle.

AND FINALLY, Lexi Conroy wrote to say, ' Let's get a little obscure...how about the bit from "It Might be You!" where he looks down out the window, to see people doing foolish things in traffic? Nice choice, Lexi! IT MIGHT BE YOU was a short that Peter Cushing made for the Crown Film Unit of the  Ministry of Information in 1946. Cushing's diction is as sharp as the scalpel he would skillfully wield in 'The Curse Of Frankenstein', some ten short years later in 1957. This short dealing with public safety and 'the rules of the highway' in UK post war traffic also starred Peter Madden, who would appear with Peter Cushing in 'Frankenstein Created Woman' and several other classic Hammer films. - Below

#TBT : A BIT OF A CANINE WHIFF TO TODAY'S POSTS . . .

THERE'S A DEFINITE CANINE WHIFF, to this weeks ‪#‎throwbackthursday‬! A lovely example of Peter playing 'black comedy' in a scene from Tyburn films, 'Legend of the Werewolf' below, as we remember one of three flirts Cushing had with monsters, of the barking kind! Later today, we have the very 'barking' results from last weeks' 'Twilight Time Baskervilles Blu Ray Compo!

THEN WE WILL BE BRINGING YOU SOME very early Hollywood Peter Cushing, in a clip from a film, that sounds as if it COULD be about a dog, but thankfully isn't! All that to come, in the meantime, let's sit and 'growl' about the fact that Legend of the Werewolf STILL isn't available as a commercial dvd or blu ray... it's enough to get anyone howling!!

#TOOCOOLTUESDAY : PETER CUSHING / ALICE KRIGE : A TALE OF TWO CITIES

#‎TOOCOOLTUESDAY‬: ONCE IN A WHILE, I post something, that I REALLY hope everyone will see or watch..and this clip is one of those post. If Peter Cushing as poor ol Arthur Grimsdyke in Tales from the Crypt, made you weep...this is sure to touch you.

ABOVE is a short scene from the 1980 film, A Tale of Two Cities, an all star cast, with Peter and Alice Krige playing the father and daughter, Manette... if this doesn't set your bottom lip a quiver, you had better check you still have a pulse. It's cool. Too cool! Let me know what you think....
